Location: IWCA Clubhouse
Time: 1pm to 2pm
Description:
The Navajo Code Talkers of World War II: Discover the incredible story of the Navajo Code Talkers, unsung heroes of World War II. In the thick of the Pacific theater, the code they created using their native language was unbreakable, baffling the enemy. This presentation reveals how these brave Navajo Marines transmitted vital, top-secret messages with astonishing speed and accuracy. Their unique linguistic contribution directly saved the lives of countless U.S. Marines, turning the tide of crucial battles and significantly shortening the war in the Pacific. Learn how their ingenuity and courage made them an indispensable asset in WWII.

Our guest presenter Ed Maxwell (writing as Edward R. Maxwell, PhD, or James Edward Maxwell Jr.) is the author of the book Unbreakable!: Navajo Code-Talkers, World War II's Most Secret Weapon. Released in August/September 2026, the book details the history of the Native American Marines who used their complex, unwritten indigenous language to forge an unbreakable communications cipher for the U.S. military during World War II. Ed is a member of the New Horizon's Band and will be gifting each veteran in attendance a copy of his newly released book!

Coffee and Dunkin'Donuts will be served!

Lynn Alexander will serve as emcee for the event!
